Final: NC State 6 NDSU 4
Raleigh, NC– The NC State softball team(3-3, 0-0) played host to North Dakota State(4-5) in the Marucci Classic on Friday night at Dail Stadium. The Wolfpack entered the match coming off a huge 9-1-win over St John’s to earn their second win of the season. The Pack came in winners of 2 of their last 3 and did not stop their winning ways on Friday earning a 6-4 win over the visiting Bison.
The game started out rough for the Pack as starter Kayla Fekel gave up an early 3-run homerun, but the Pack responded with 4 solo homeruns to take the lead in the bottom of the third. Taylor Ensley was responsible for 2 of those solo shots. One in the first inning and another in the third inning. Makayla Marbury got her solo homer in the second inning to cut the lead to 3-2 at that time. The Pack would add another insurance run on sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 4th to take a 5-3 lead. The lead was extended to 6-3 in the bottom of 5th with an RBI single by Haley Haislip.
Fekel went 2 innings and allowed 3 runs for the Pack. Rylee Wyman would come on in relief for the Pack and did not allow a run over her first 3 innings. The Bison would add a run on a sac fly in the top of the 6th to cut the lead to 6-4. The Pack would go on to win 6-4 in Coach Lindsey Leftwich’s 1st home win. The Pack is back in action against Campbell at 6 PM later on this evening.
